Habanero Hot Sauce Recipe

By • Dec 12th, 2007 • Category: Burger Recipes

This Habanero Hot Sauce recipe uses fresh mango to give a fruit flavor to an otherwise extra hot sauce.

Ingredients:

  • 12 fresh habanero chilies
  • 1 mango, peeled
  • 1 cup yellow mustard
  • 1/4 cup brown sugar
  • 1/4 cup white vinegar
  • 1 tablespoon chili powder
  • 1 tablespoon curry powder
  • 1 tablespoon ground cumin
  • salt and pepper to taste

Method:

  • Throw everything into a food processor and blend to a smooth paste.
  • Now transfer this to a saucepan and simmer on a high heat for 5 minutes. Cool and transfer to jars.

Habanero Hot Sauce Tip: try this without cooking it for an extra-hot hot sauce.

I am now making my own chilli sauce with the habanero and scotch bonnett peppers I grew. How long will the sauce last?

I found the cumin to be a bit intense – might do well to add a teaspoon instead. But good recipe!
