Low Fat Cheeseburger Pie Recipe

This Low Fat Cheeseburger Pie recipe uses low fat cottage cheese and low fat cheddar cheese along side extra lean ground beef.


  • 1 pound lean ground beef
  • 1 frozen 9-inch deep dish pie shell, thawed
  • 1/2 cup diced sweet onions
  • 2 beaten eggs
  • 2 tablespoons flour
  • 1 cup low fat cottage cheese
  • 1 cup low fat cheddar cheese
  • 2 tablespoons flour
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce


  • Preheat your oven to 375°F and have a 9 inch pie plate ready.
  • Mix the diced onion into the ground beef then brown the mixture in a large pan/skillet.
  • While cooking add the flour and Worcestershire sauce, stirring until evenly coated. Make sure the meat is fully cooked, his should take about 10 minutes. Drain off any excess fat after cooking.
  • In separate bowl, fold the low fat cottage cheese into the 2 beaten eggs.
  • This pie is made using layers of cheddar cheese, ground beef mixture and the cottage cheese mixture. Sprinkle 1/3 of the cheddar cheese into the pie crust, followed by 1/2 of meat mixture, then 1/2 of the cottage cheese mixture. Repeat this with another 1/3 of cheddar cheese, the remaining meat and then the rest of the cottage cheese mixture. The final layer is the last 1/3 of the cheddar.
  • Bake at 375°F for 30 minutes or until crust is golden brown and filling is cooked. Cut into wedges and tuck in.
