Pesto Burgers
By admin • Dec 9th, 2007 • Category: Burger RecipesThe beef here is mixed with a basil pesto to give the patties a real Italian flavor, An extra flavor kick is given by spreading some of the pesto on the Italian bread before serving. Makes 4 Pesto burgers.
Ingredients:
- 1 pound ground beef
- 1/2 cup high quality Basil Pesto
- 1 tablespoon of dried/fresh Oregano
- 1/4 cup dry Italian herb flavored breadcrumbs
- 2 tablespoons of finely chopped red bell peppers
- salt & pepper to taste
- 2 tablespoon Basil Pesto
- 8 slices of Italian bread
Method:
- Combine the ground beef, breadcrumbs, 1/2 cup Basil Pesto, Oregano and chopped bell peppers in a large bowl and make sure everything is mixed well.
- Form into 4 patties and season each patty with salt and pepper depending on how you like it. These are best cooked on a preheated grill for five minutes each side or until cooked through.
- To serve spread some of the remaining basil pesto on each slice of bread and grill them for one minute before adding any Italian cheese slice and serving.
Suggested burger topping: try chunks of mozzarella cheese and roasted red peppers. More burger toppings.
