The Cheeseburger Pizza
By admin • Dec 14th, 2007 • Category: Burger StoriesThe Cheeseburger Pizza is a strange yet very popular hybrid of the cheeseburger and the pizza.
The cheeseburger is the number one choice of food for 18% of Americans but there is one other meal that is favored by a massive 38% of the population. A recent survey conducted by Uno Chicago Grill showed that pizza tops the list of America’s favorite foods followed by spaghetti in second place and our beloved Cheeseburger comes in third.
Well, what about the Cheeseburger Pizza?
The Cheeseburger Pizza isn’t as weird as it first sounds. It’s a traditionally cooked pizza but with toppings that you would associated with a cheeseburger. Toppings include plenty of ground beef and cheese but with an added layer of cheeseburger style toppings on top of the cheese. The typical toppings are ketchup, pickles, fried onions, bacon and juicy tomatoes.

This strange combination has similarly strange beginnings, as it was the idea of a contestant on the popular TV show The Apprentice. The idea was popularized by the show and Domino’s Pizza was quick to maximize on its success. So on April 1st 2005 “The American Classic Cheeseburger Pizza” was available for sale at all Domino’s in America.
Since then the idea has been taken on by other Pizza chains including Uno Chicago Grill. The Cheeseburger Pizza is also popular amongst home cooks and you can check out our Cheeseburger Pizza Recipe and have a try yourself!

these have been around for years.i use to get a cheeseburger pizza at this place in ohio in the mid-90’s
it had a hetchup/mustard mix instead of pizza sauce, chedder, bacon and all of the fixens you would found on a burger.
pretty sloppy but pretty good!

TGIFridays has had one of these on its appetizer menu at their Front Row location in the Arizona Diamonbacks’ stadium since very near the day it opened back in 1998. Pizza sauce/ketchup/mustard blend base, mozzarella/cheddar cheese blend, ground beef/sausage/bacon/sweet relish toppings. Good for a slice or two, but starts to get a bit disgusting after that.

I was making bacon cheeseburger pizza for Little Ceasars in the early 90’s. Regular pizza but with Cheddar, Ground Beef, Onions, Tomatoes, and Bacon. Still one of my favorites.
Don’t bother with ketchup, mustard and relish on pizza… not everything translates (like lettuce).
