Back in the late 1950's through the early 1970's there was a Drive-in-Theater in Riverton, Wyoming that had a snack bar where the food was so delicious they put a drive in near the entrance so kids folks could eat during the daylight hours. The signature dish at the Dash-In was the Cartwheel so good and so well known that after 40 years folks still talk about them since the original recipe is available at least to local eateries now have them on their menu and one features it on their outdoor lighted sign.

Ingredients:
hamburger patties cooked and frozen hard
 Package of American Cheese slices

Batter
•	2 eggs
•	1 3/4 cup of flour
•	3/4 teaspoon baking powder
•	2 teaspoons sugar
•	dash of salt
•	1 cup milk

Directions:
1.	Pre heat oil for cooking to 375°. mix the ingredients for the batter together and let sit while the oil heats.
2.
Take the frozen-pre-cooked hamburger patties and wet a finger and rub small amount of water on each patty to make cheese slice adhere to both sides of the hamburger. After the cheese is on patty, dip them in the batter. Deep fat fry them until a golden brown.

Quote : "There’s a trend in Scotland for deep frying foods that really don’t need the additional calories produced by dunking them into a vat of oil.

It all started with deep fried Mars bars in the 90?s and has moved on to other candy bars, cakes, pizzas and now deep fried cheeseburgers."

Started in the 90s?????? I guess when I was eating deep fried food in the 70's, when I was but a slip of a lad, I must have been hallucinating.....

I was at the county fair last week and i was looking around at all the vendors selling deep fried foods and the lines to get it were crazy.. I have an idea that is somewhat crazy, but I want to see what you all think prior to moving forward.. Cook hamburgers, 2 patties with various fixins in between them (cheese and peppers, bbq sauce, sauteed onions/mushrooms, and so on) and dip on corn dog batter and fry up nice.. I can't see how this would not be delicious... absolutely horrible for you, but so friggin good i think people would still eat them... Any feedback?

I'm with ya Karen! I am from Riverton and miss them as well. I am just going to have to give in and make my own. I wonder if anyone remembers them from the covered wagon drive-thru?

We used to get these in the Riverton and Lander, WY restaurants. They called them Cartwheels or Wagon Wheels and they were DELICIOUS! My son and I are on a mission to find out how to make them 'cause we're missing 'em!

Cross this with the cheeseburger in a can and you get heart attack in a can.

That said, if someone around here sold deep-fried cheeseburgers I would try one. And I'm tempted to find a place that makes them.

Several years ago, when I discovered Bubba Burgers, I came up with the same idea. The only difference, is I made a dry flour based coating that came out more like a country fired steak. It was really good, but I could feel a heart attack coming any second. It's funny how I would tell people about this, and they thought I was nuts. Now I see similar things on the web, and it doesn't come across as crazy. I guess when it's done by pros it's more accepted.
